Working in partnership with The Tagore Centre UK, we have recently secured funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund in England for an exciting new project.

A prolific writer, poet, composer, painter and educationalist, Rabindranath Tagore was one of the most versatile literary artists to stem from Twentieth Century India, who had strong connections with Britain. The Tagore Centre UK is the country’s main institution dedicated to promoting his work and life. It organizes performances, seminars, exhibitions and master classes run by and featuring renowned artists and scholars from the UK and all over the world.

The specific aims and outcomes of the project include:

  • Increasing the number and diversity of people learning about and appreciating the works of Tagore;
  • Developing the heritage, archivist and documentary-making skills of young people;
  • Documenting and digitising key archive material and to record through visual and audio means and archive for the future, the songs not previously translated; and
  • Producing a touring exhibition.

To support the implementation of the project, the Tagore centre is appointing a Project Officer and a recruitment exercise, managed by Rinova, is underway.  Details about this new job opportunity can be downloaded here.
